Terrible Pitch
Bad idea. Great delivery.
Two friends. Two ridiculous ideas. One very persuadable audience. Make your case, handle the twist, and sell the room on something wonderfully terrible.
How to play
This is what game night sounds like
Confidence does most of the work.
There’s always one friend who could sell anything. Put that theory to the test. The stranger the brief gets, the more confident the pitch becomes.
Get the gang into it.
Here’s how Terrible Pitch works.
Take your ridiculous brief
Two speakers get the same scenario, with a different idea to defend. Read the surprise twist and take 10 seconds to prepare together. Everyone else becomes a judge.
Sell it like you mean it
Each speaker gets their own 20-second pitch. Make a case for your idea and work the twist into it. Wait until the next speaker is ready before starting their timer.
Win over the room
On the countdown, the judges point to their favourite speaker. Speakers don’t vote. Enter and check the counts, then move to the next matchup. Everyone pitches twice, once in each speaking position.
Who wins?
Win a matchup for 2 points. A tied vote gives both speakers 1 point. A skipped matchup gives neither speaker points. When all matchups are done, the highest individual score wins.
Picture your next round
You had to be there.
Now you can be.
Best enjoyed with a straight face, an outrageous argument, and absolutely no expertise.
Your brief
Which would improve a wedding more?
A bouncy castle vs. an unlimited cheese fountain.
The twist? The wedding is on a boat. You have 20 seconds. Make it sound essential.
